A good corporate headshot is decided before the camera comes out: what you wear, when you cut your hair, and how much sleep you got. This is the checklist we give our own clients in Singapore, covering the five days before the shoot through to the session itself.

Wardrobe: what actually photographs well
- Stick to solid colours such as navy, charcoal, or classic black and white.
- Avoid busy patterns, fine stripes, or large logos — they pull attention away from your face.
- Consider bringing a blazer or a sharp jacket for a more polished, professional look.
- Have 2–3 distinct outfit choices ready so you have options in the session.
Grooming: timing matters more than product
- Plan your haircut or trim 3–5 days before the shoot, not the day before — it needs time to settle.
- Arrive with your hair and makeup already session-ready.
- For men, a clean shave or a neatly trimmed beard photographs best.
- Keep a small touch-up kit with you for last-minute adjustments.
The night before
- Aim for a full 8 hours of sleep — it shows in your eyes and skin.
- Stay hydrated; drink plenty of water for a healthier skin tone.
- Avoid alcohol and salty food to prevent morning-of puffiness.
- Iron your clothes and lay out your accessories so the morning is not rushed.
On the day
- Arrive 10–15 minutes early so you can settle instead of starting flustered.
- Eat a light, non-greasy meal beforehand to keep your energy steady.
- Use our private changing area for any final touches.
- Relax and let the photographer direct you — that is the part you do not have to solve yourself.
What to bring
- 2–3 varied outfit options.
- Relevant accessories: ties, scarves, or subtle jewellery.
- Grooming essentials such as a hairbrush, comb, or lip balm.
- Any professional props that support your personal brand.
Expression and posing
- Practise finding your natural smile in a mirror beforehand — most people have one that reads as genuine and one that does not.
- Recalling an actual happy moment produces a more believable expression than trying to hold a pose.
- You can see yourself instantly on our live preview monitor during the session.
- Stay open to direction; finding your best angle is the photographer's job, not yours.
